The Deuce act of the week is RnB artist MAI K who is based in London, England.
Having moved from Syria to London via Germany at the age of ten, Mai Khalil had not even heard of RnB music until she stumbled across a Smooth Grooves Rnb Edition CD left on the road outside her home. From that day on it was the beginning of Mai's journey to finding her own sound.
After gaining a name for herself on the London music scene, her paths crossed with rapper and activist Lowkey which resulted in a number of collaborations together, garnering millions of plays on YouTube; one being Ghosts Of Grenfell which you can listen to HERE.
In 2017 Mai Khalil released her debut album Reflection but shortly afterward fell pregnant preventing her to fully promote the album.
Forward-wind one year, a chance encounter with music manager and promoter Rob Saunders in a Fish & Chip shop saw contact details being swapped upon hearing about each other's musical backgrounds. Impressed by the quality of Mai's album, Rob decided it was too good to be forgotten and plans soon began to re-release the album, but this time split into 2 EPs over a period of 12 months and under her new name MAI K. Both EPs received much critical acclaim resulting in widespread radio play around the world including a number of national stations.
